Words Drawn On Water - Album is available November 2005
Words Drawn on Water is a collection of reflective and meditative bamboo flute compositions reflecting the inner journey of the artist as they compose within the natural outdoors. A perfect companion for your daily commute, walk in a forest, or meditation. A soothing way to surround yourself with the embrace of nature and return to spiritual harmony.
Track 1: No Lake (Bamboo Flute solo)
A melody that invites you to transition from your daily life filled with the cares of this world and begin your journey through inner space. Composed at Ryerson Station State Park, PA while viewing the progression of Autumn colors in the hardwood forest.
The opening theme is my contemporary rendition of the traditional Hachigaeshi (Returning the Bowl) that is played on the shakuhachi the end-blown five-hole bamboo flute. A tribute to my father, Wallace. By his example he taught me a quiet sense of being.
Track 2: Leaves on Water (Bamboo Flute solo)
Composed to capture the feelings of fall leaves merging with the river of life surrounding us, from Ryerson Station State Park, PA during Autumn
Track 3: No Wind (Bamboo Flute with electronica accompaniment)
Float to another world leaving this dimension and entering your personal inner sphere of serenity. Composed at Ryerson Station State Park, PA during a glorious Autumn day. Studio additions to suggest an Autumn storm on a horizon I cannot yet see. Final mix Cameron, WV USA.
Track 4: The Spider's Silk (Bamboo Flute with electronica accompaniment)
Reflective melody expressing the joyous experience of spider's webs dancing upon the Autumn breeze. Location: Ryerson Station State Park, PA. Waterfall from Amos Ridge Road in WV.
Track 5: Shadow of a Foxtail (Bamboo Flute with electronica accompaniment)
Meditative blend of synthesizers and bamboo flute preserving a fleeting moment along your spiritual journey coaxing you along the trail of a fox. Composed with hanami (Cherry Blossom viewing) parties in mind.
Track 6: Chasen kuyo (Bamboo Flute with electronica accompaniment)
The delicate, haunting tones of the bamboo flute mingle with the sounds of rain dripping from the eaves combining with electronic systhesis form a soothing blanket celebrating the ceremony of "retiring" the chasen, or bamboo wisk, that is used during the Japanese Tea Ceremony.
